our story
a journey of passion for brazilian design.
the birth of the brand
Fahrer was born in 2001, the result of the vision of Sergio Fahrer, the founding designer passionate about the essence of Brazilian design. In a small studio in the west side of São Paulo, the story of a brand that would redefine contemporary furniture in Brazil began. The name "Fahrer," which means "conductor" in German, reflects the brand's philosophy: to guide Brazilian design to new horizons without losing its roots.
Jack Fahrer
In 2003, Jack Fahrer joined the studio as a designer, bringing his expertise in product design and precision joinery. A graduate of FAU-USP, Jack shared the same obsession with clean lines, honest materials, and the relentless pursuit of constructive perfection. His arrival marked the beginning of a new phase of experimentation and growth. Together, Sergio and Jack developed the iconic Copan Chair, which would go on to win the Design Museum Award.
Brazilian design has a unique soul. It's warm, it's human, it's generous. Our mission is to honor this tradition while looking to the future.
— Sergio Fahrer
The construction of language
Between 2005 and 2010, Fahrer developed its unique language: Brazilian minimalism. Unlike Scandinavian or Japanese minimalism, our approach incorporates the generosity of organic forms, the warmth of native woods, and the structural boldness that characterizes Brazilian design. Each piece is conceived to dialogue with the space, to breathe, to invite touch. The wood is worked with almost reverential respect, revealing its veins, its natural imperfections, its history.
The vision of design
Our vision has always been clear: to create furniture that transcends trends. Pieces that, 50 years from now, will still be relevant, beautiful, and functional. We believe that good design is invisible – it doesn't shout, it doesn't compete for attention. It simply works, silently and efficiently. Each project begins with a question: "Will this object improve the life of the person who uses it?". If the answer isn't an unequivocal yes, we go back to the drawing board. Our commitment is to excellence, not quantity.
Every piece we create must have a reason for existing. We don't make decorative objects, we make companions for life.
— Jack Fahrer
Craftsmanship and technology
In 2012, we opened our permanent workshop in Cotia, SP. A 2,000m² space where craftsmanship and technology coexist in harmony. Here, master carpenters work side-by-side with state-of-the-art CNC machines. Tradition meets innovation. Each piece passes through the hands of at least five different artisans before it is finished. We don't mass-produce – we produce with soul. Our pieces carry the fingerprints of those who created them, literally and metaphorically.
International recognition
International recognition came in 2015 when Fahrer was selected to exhibit at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. It was a deeply emotional moment to see our pieces – born in a São Paulo atelier – being admired alongside the biggest names in world design. Since then, we have participated in fairs and exhibitions in New York, London, Tokyo, and Paris. But our heart remains in São Paulo, in our workshop, alongside our artisans.
Wood speaks to us. We must learn to listen to it, respect its natural curves, the stories it holds within its rings.
— Sergio Fahrer
Heloisa Samaia
In 2018, Heloisa Samaia joined the team as a designer, bringing a fresh perspective to the studio. An architect by training, Heloisa brought a unique spatial vision, considering not only the object itself, but also how it interacts with its surroundings. Her sensitivity to textures and refined details elevated our work to a new level. She led the development of the Horizonte collection, our most daring and experimental line to date.
The future
Today, in 2026, we celebrate 25 years of history. But we look ahead with the same curiosity and hunger to learn as on day one. We are experimenting with new sustainable materials, developing partnerships with traditional artisan communities, and exploring forgotten ancestral techniques. Our mission remains the same: to create honest, beautiful, and timeless furniture. Furniture that tells stories. Furniture that becomes part of the history of those who own it.
"Design is not just about creating beautiful objects. It's about creating objects that make life more beautiful."
